Multi-zone furnace for stoker-fired boilers up to 50MW - Fire-Box Solution.
We present the design multi-zone furnace, where we have introduced new solution of distribution and supply of air to the Fire-Box.
We have eliminated the need for manual regulation of the amount of air supplied to each zone. Boiler service staff role is limited to opening or closing the zones.
This way we limited to a minimum interference in the operation control of the furnace. The amount of air supplied is automatically regulated by the blow fan. *)
The side to side distribution of the air achieved through the resulting pressure differential across the width of the grate to the deck minimizes up to 25% the adverse effects of fuel desegragation and limits the amount of fuel and air supplied for combustion. Amount of the exhaust gas is reduced by 30%.
Our innovative solutions implemented between blow zones, have practically eliminated inter zone blow throughs.
Fire-Box has from 28 to 120 zones depending on the active surface of the grate. By applying our solution we maintain full control of the furnace. Regardless of the required boiler output, we keep excess air to the minimum technically necessary level. Relatively high outlet losses previously are reduced to 3%-5% while maintaining very low losses of the slag in the range of 1.5% - 4% for the rated fuels.
The new furnace is characterized by high, an unprecedented dynamics of combustion.
The result of these structural changes of the furnace and at the same time maintainance of the proper exhaust temperature is increase in the operating efficiency of the boiler up to a level of 86%-88% depending on its technical condition, design solution and the type of fuel burned. For comparison higher values of the operating efficiency of the boiler (92%) are obtained in stoker-fired boilers for example in Germany working on so called "nut" coal fuels with a content of 6-8% ash and flue gas temperature at the entrance to the chimney not exceeding 105°C.
Fire-Box solution is suitable for use in a fully automated combustion environment.
Designed as a plate girder - structural components are made of profiled sheet, allowing for weight reduction, increase in the service life and resistance to high temperatures - thermal deformation.

Additional air intake allows the use of hot air from under the grate.This arrangement improves the efficiency of the combustion process on the grate. Furthermore, there is reduction of the excess air resulting in an overall increase in boiler efficiency.
The specific design of the raceway provides cleaning of grate bars of residual ash. Grate bars are less prone to mechanical damage and therefore their the service life increases of up to three times. There is a possibility of additional cooling of grate bars with water or air.
